WAV files imported into Logic increase in size, why?

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could tell me why files imported into Logic increase in size?

In my case, I imported a dozen WAV files into Logic (stems from a film score project, done in another DAW). Before import, all of the files were exactly 52 minutes long, 24/48kHz and 896.9 MB each. After importing them into Logic, their size increased to 899.7 MB each, so by 3 MB give or take. Nothing else changed. Could anyone tell me why? Could it be that Logic "writes" some extra information into the files making them ultimately "bigger" in size?

Unfortunately, Logic changes the audio files while they are being imported into a project. You can check this by viewing the modification date information in the audio files. I suspect that it is because of creating a File Overview. And I don't know if this is the reason for the change in size in MB.

I say "unfortunately" because this could be a doorway for file corruption errors like "One or more audio files have changed in length" or "Logic Pro X has found xxx audio files in 8-bit format".

Yes this is a really bad behaviour for a DAW. Pro Tools does the same and requires me to duplicate all files and keep copies before importing into PT, which has a few times in the past corrupted them. Same with Rane Serato, etc. Developers need to stop doing this or give a notification and or offer options to not edit people's original source files. So frustrating
