Logic automatically copies audio files when saving for no reason

I have a larger Logic project, something strange has been happening for some time: A certain number of audio files from the project are copied each time I save my song. This takes approx. 10 seconds. It is not clear where these are copied to and whether they are copied at all. Why does this happen and how can I switch this off?

Logic gives you the ability to save different audio files in a project so they are available if you take or share your project with someone else that may not have the full sound library downloaded. If you aren't using your project on any other computer you can turn off that feature.

Goto FIle>Project Settings>Assets. You'll see what assets will be included with your project. I usually include just the first 2 items. The others can make a project folder or package pretty large if you have a lot of sampled instruments. for Alchemy, Sampler, etc.

As long as the new saved version is on the same hierarchy level than the original song, Logic does not create copies and uses the files from the "Audio Files" folder inside the song folder.

As soon as I save the song to antother folder or folder level, Logic creates an addition "Audio Files" folder and copies the files into it no matter what I have chosen in the save prompt. I think, it's a bug and exists since Logic 10.5 or so.

Dear morozco, thank you for your response. I've tried it out. Unfortunately, it doesn't change anything. The problem still persists. Every time I save, even if I've only made a small change, it copies all the audio files from the project. However, I don't know where it's copying them to or why it's doing that. That's how it looks like (in German: Sichern = Save / Audiodatei kopieren = Copy audiofiles)

Thanks for your reply! Here my answers:

1) I save them as a folder, like Logic does, for example when I make a save as. In this folder there is the subfolder AudioFiles.

2) On the internal hard disc or an external one, depending on the project.

3) The problem described here appears when simply saving.

It is important to note that I have also saved other songs (projects) in the same folder in which this problem appears and everything works perfectly there. It is only this one song that has this problem.
