separate Logic Pro audio tracks are linked somehow

Seems like it ought to be a simple fix but I can't find it:

Two separate audio tracks (one of them imported from another project) are responding to all edits -- pan, volume, plug-ins, even the instrument icon -- as if they are the same track.

How do I stop this?

No channel strip is grouped in your picture. The group row is empty, otherwise something would be displayed there. But you have some chaos with your channelstrip layout. The channelstrip named "Tom 1" has a guitar symbol and contains a channelstrip preset "60's...". This is probably the cause of the chaos.

You need to know that it is possible to create multiple tracks with the same channel strip in the main window. And to make it even more confusing, you can name them differently in the main window (or they will be renamed automatically...).

The solution is to create a new channel strip (here called track !?!) in the main window. There are many options...

In the Main Menu:

1. Tracks > New Tracks or by pressing "+"- button. This creates a new channel strip in the mixer and a new track in the main window.

2. The option I use conveniently very often is to create a duplicate of the existing channel strip and change it from there. Tracks > Other > New Track with duplicate Settings or pressing the superimposed "+"icon. This creates a duplicated channel strip in the mixer and track in the main window.

You know, you have independent channelstrips, when the channelstrips in the mixer are changing while selecting the correspnding tracks in the main window.

Thanks so much, this was of course the sensible workaround solution, creating a track with duplicate settings (based on the other tom track) and moving the region to that one. I was hoping to reverse engineer the problem so as to understand how it might have happened in the first place, but I'm no longer that curious!

I have bigger fish to fry with a separate problem -- if you feel like taking a look :)
