I have a PowerPC 7600 running 7.5.3. I have a Stylewriter II printer connected to the printer port and software installed. Added it to the desktop via the chooser
when I try to print something, I get a desktop spooler system crash requiring a restart.

Which printer software are you using for the StyleWriter II? If necessary, the System 7.5.3 installer should have a custom install option for a StyleWriter 1200. Otherwise, Color StyleWriter 1500 software may be used (http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Macintosh/Printing/StyleWriter/Color_SW_1500_2.2.1-NetInst.sea.bin).
Also, try with or without background printing. Make sure that a compatible Chooser version is used.
I remember that Color 1500 update being necessary when I used this printer years ago. It works perfectly. Thanks for the reminder!
