Just got my new 2023 iMac desktop computer. Can I set it up by signing in with my iCloud account

Can I use the iCloud sign in method to set up my new 2023 iMac?

If you were using iCloud with your old Mac, and you set up your new Mac to use iCloud, with the same Apple ID, then the new Mac will be able to pull in things that synchronize through iCloud . These might include Photos, Calendars, Contacts, Notes, and a few others.


iCloud synchronization by itself will not pull in everything that a migration (using Migration Assistant) would have. Whether you want to use Migration Assistant is up to you.
