I have an iPhone X in recovery mode. Can not restore in iTunes!

Environment: Windows 11, iTunes ver 12.13.1.3

I have an iPhone X in recovery mode. When attempting to restore in iTunes, I get the error:

"The iphone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found"

This error is produced at the point where it would normally ask me to accept an agreement and then start downloading iOS. The agreement never pops up and no download starts.

After attempting to troubleshoot my computer (updating iTunes, checking internet connection, DNS, etc) I decided to take my iPhone 13 and see if it would work.

After putting my iPhone 13 in recovery mode iTunes will ask me to accept an agreement and then starts the iOS download immediately and without issue.

I have the same problem! The iPhone is stuck in a boot loop so restoring is the only option I have, but I also get the error when trying to update or restore.

I've used (successfully) the TomsGuide tutorial to 'update' the iPhone X

I've downloaded an older IOS and with 'Hold down Shift (PC) or Option (Mac) and click the Restore button'

one can select the IOS from a chosen location (eg Downloads;-)

I've used this version IOS version: iPhone10,3,iPhone10,6_16.7.4_20H240_Restore.ipsw

All is explained in the tutorial below.

I'm having exactly the same issue with an iPhone X. I've tried on a PC with iTunes and a Mac with the latest OS, and both say the same thing. "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The requested resource was not found".

Right before that, there is a pop-up with a notice, "iTunes will update your iPhone to iOS 16.7.4 and will verify the update with Apple."

If you receive a solution, please post it. Thanks.
