Right button on apple tv remote not working

Hi again..the new aftermarket remote arrived today ( wasn’t aware it was in the postbox ) ….brilliant ! all working perfectly. I can track right to settings and do a software update which allowed my iPhone to be used as a remote as well ..I can access all functions now …so lesson is things do wear out over time ! Many thanks for your reply..didn’t think anyone would get back to me! …I have one of the first silver aluminium models , it’s paired ok but its frustrating as I think I need to do a reset as the message on the tv says on the Apple TV but I cannot move across to the right with the remote to click on “settings” …I’ve ordered an after market remote and hope that may work. Also I can’t set up the iPhone/ iPad remote function …it’s used to work ! Any advice again would be gratefully accepted …thanks

Thanks again Vancouver22 . Yes my Apple TV is one of the first ..I’ve tried the turn off and on again but I no good. I think it may be a worn out remote ..the right connection has seen a lot of usage over the years and when I think of it its the action that is used most …as you said hopefully the new remote will get me across to the settings . It arrives in a week or two and I’ll let you know how I go….many thanks again for helping ..much appreciated.
