How can I reset my iPhone's passcode?

My phone was in my pocket and it was putting in the wrong code. So when I grabbed my phone I just swiped up to try an open it and it saying put in passcode. But I forgot my passcode I tired all possible codes. Now I'm waiting an hour for my phone to turn go back normal but I still don't know the code. Is there any other steps I can take to change my passcode. I do not want to rest and erase everything in my phone I have a lot of important information on my phone.

Hey, guys.

Resetting an iPhone passcode requires erasing the device, which deletes all data and settings, including the passcode. You can then restore your data from a backup. Here's how to reset your iPhone passcode:

Tips:If your iPhone was once connected to a computer and trusted this computer, you can still back up your data before the device shows that iPhone is unavailable.

Method 1: Using iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later)

  1. Connect your iPhone to your computer: Use the USB cable that came with your iPhone.
  2. Open iTunes or Finder:
    • On macOS Catalina or later, open Finder.
    • On macOS Mojave or earlier, or on a Windows PC, open iTunes.
  1. Enter Recovery Mode:
    • For iPhone 8 and later: Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears.
    • For iPhone 7 and 7 Plus: Press and hold the Volume Down and Sleep/Wake (Side) buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.
    • For iPhone 6s and earlier: Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake (Top or Side) buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.

4. Restore your iPhone:

    • In iTunes or Finder, locate your device.
    • You'll see an option to Restore or Update. Choose Restore. This will download the latest iOS and erase your device.

5. Set up your iPhone: After the restore process completes, set up your iPhone as new or restore from a backup.

  4. Set up your iPhone: After the erase process completes, set up your iPhone as new or restore from a backup.

There is no other way to reset the passcode except to erase your device and restore it from a backup file that you may have created. See detailed answer below.

-----

I understand that you are referring to the passcode that is used to get to the Home Screen of your iPhone. You will have to reset the passcode to your iPhone by following the instructions in this guide published by Apple 👉 Reset the Passcode of your iPhone (Without a Computer).  Note: All the data on your iPhone will be erased.

Hopefully, you have a backup created on 👉 iCloud and/or on a computer. If you do then, you can 👉 Restore your iPhone from the backup file once your passcode has been reset and the iPhone has been returned to factory settings by the procedure in the link above.
