Brand new phone - how do i reset passcode

I have a brand new Iphone14 pro max. all i have done is created a passcode. I haven't set it up as yet or transferred data etc or have access to the internet.

I have forgotten my new passcode. Is there any way of resetting the phone back to factory so i can start again.

I have tried putting it into reset mode. I currently locked out for a hr.

Its driving me nuts - i wish i had written the dam number down.
