My iPhone passcode is wrong

Hey All,

SO I've got this iphone that had turned on blind assistance while it was in my purse and after burning through a couple of hours trying to fix THAT, now it's telling me my passcode is wrong (literally takes tapping on it about 80 times to get it to register that I've pressed a button anyway) and so I've installed iTunes thinking maybe I could get into it and trash it's OS back to factory since this POS is locked up and useless anyway. But iTunes doesn't recognize this POS. So now what? Any suggestions besides the trash can??

Given the info that:

  • Blind Assistance turned on while in your purse
  • Passcode problems
  • Taps don't register

This sounds like your digitizer that is built into the screen has failed. The purpose of the digitizer is to register touches and when it is failing you may see "ghost" touches where the phone will sense touches even without using it. This will turn things on without you doing it and may give you passcode troubles as the ghost touches may enter an incorrect passcode too many times. This most commonly occurs when the screen is cracked, but may also fail without a cracked screen. If this is the case, then taking it to an Apple Store for diagnostics is the best option.
