need to reinstall photos app

I "dragged" my iPhotos app onto an external HD thinking I was just storing the photos elsewhere - however I seem to have removed the app completely now and can't get it to come back - the photos are all safe in iCloud so Im not panicking (much!) but how to I get the photo app to return and or how do I get my iCloud Photos back onto my lap top.

thanks!

The Photos.app is a part of the system and cannot easily be uninstalled. It is protected by the system integrity protection.

If you dragged it to an external drive, you will probably just have dragged an Alias of the Photos.app to the external drive.

Have you checked, if the Photos.app is still in your Applications folder? Then you simply can drag the Photos.app from Applications back to the Dock.
