Early-Mid 2009 iMac Bluetooth compatibility

I have an Early/Mid 2009 iMac 20", running OS Catalina 10.15.2, and was told that it has bluetooth, however, I cannot seem to find bluetooth anywhere, and the system info, then click on Bluetooth, it just says no information found. According to the manual for this iMac, it is supposed to have bluetooth. I was hoping to setup bluetooth speakers, as the internal speakers are getting crackly and hard to hear anymore. Thinking of replacing those. If this iMac does not have bluetooth capability, are there USB options? Thank you in advance.

As per MacTracker and Apple's Technical Specifications,

  • iMac (20-inch, Early 2009) has built-in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • iMac (24-inch, Early 2009) has built-in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • iMac (20-inch, Mid 2009) does not have Bluetooth

iMac (Early 2009) - Technical Specifications

iMac (20-inch, Mid 2009) - Technical Specifications

Note that none of these iMacs support anything higher than El Capitan. If you are running a hacked copy of Catalina on an unsupported Early 2009 iMac, there is no guarantee that the Bluetooth drivers in Catalina would work with the Bluetooth hardware in the Early 2009 iMac.

The software updates come directly from apple via the computers software update feature. I do know that there are newer versions out, but when I tried to install 10.15.3, it would not allow me. So the Catalina is not a hacked copy. There is a slight possibility that the person I bought this iMac from may have done some upgrades internally, but if I remember, it came with El Capitan installed.
