The same thing is happening on my wife's iPhone 13. For example, we charge her phone to 85% at night before going to sleep. In the morning when we wake up, the phone is at 57%. A drain of 28% with no usage other than standby. To check this, we closed all the apps the next day and the result was the same. I also see a similar thing with my iPhone 14Pro.

I have a 12 Pro Max which was fine until this morning.

I woke up to the notification that the phone had updated to 17.2.1.

My I used my phone for a good 2 hours today which led to losing roughly 25% charge, so still 3/4 full.

I drove home.

When I looked at my phone, it was suddenly at 25% charged. So 50% disappeared.

I charged it. Drove somewhere else, phone on car charger. Battery keeps draining WHILE on the charger. The charger shows that it is working.

I now restarted my phone and googled this.

will charge it fully and see what happens.

my phone was fine. This is absolutely due to the update

I am using iPhone XR, I know it’s quite an old model, but iPhones are meant to last long right? That’s why we shell so much money to own them. However got a battery replacement done today itself and shows 100% health. But after updating to 17.2.1 it started draining way too fast. Like just with a 7-8 minutes of screen on it’s dropping to almost 10%. Not normal it seems.

Same issue here with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Noticed my battery health was 83% before the update, then immediately after it dropped to 80% without me doing anything… I use my phone the same way as before the update and my battery doesn’t last the same amount of time anymore. Feeling forced to upgrade to the newest phone rather than issues being fixed by Apple.

Battery health gets re-calibrated when the system is updated. So, what you're seeing is probably not a change in the actual battery capacity but a change in how accurately it's measured.

Why do you need to get a new phone? A new battery is much, much cheaper.

Went to the 'genius' bar today to be told that battery drain is normal, even though my battery health is 87%.

I explained to the 'genius' that I had no issues until the day I updated to iOS 17.2.1. He basically offered to replace my battery for £70! I felt like telling him where to stick the battery.

I have now updated to iOS 17.3 and the battery drain is even worse. BEWARE!

Do you have a problem related to the fact that the phone loses a couple percent of its charge within a minute in standby mode after a little use.

For example, I used the phone for a while and turned off its screen when the charge level was 30%, but then when I started using it again after a couple of minutes, the charge was already 28%
