Using Apple Pay without Touch ID on the current MacBook Air

How do you "Click Twice on Touch ID" on a MacBook Air M2 as an alternative to fingerprint identification on Touch ID - if you can't use Touch ID - mainly because of faint fingerprints? In other words, I can't see how I can use Apple Pay on my MacBook Air. Face Identification is fine on other Apple products - but it is not as far as I know not a feature in the current MacBook Airs.
