Turned off FileVault, now Decrypting is stuck on my iMac running Ventura I elected to Turn FileVault off. It says "Decrypting..." but the Estimating time remaining status bar has been going back and forth and never stopping. It's been in this state over 3 weeks and my computer is experiencing all kinds of screen freezes and is running significantly slower than it was-- which is why I wanted to turn off encryption in the first place). Things I've checked and actions taken based on suggestions from older threads and posts here and elsewhere: Time machine backups Turned off "Enable Power Nap" and "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Saver in order not to disrupt the decryption process In Terminal, FileVault status is "On". In Terminal, attempted to disable FileVault and received the message "FileVault was not disabled (11)". I checked Disk Utilities and status is "Encrypted". I received "Volume appears to be OK" when I ran First Aid, and there were no errors fixed. I used Hardware diagnostics and no problems were detected. When I retrieved from Terminal the list of volumes, my Data volume and my System volume both had FileVault status as "Yes (Unlocked)". I'm at a loss as to how to get out of this estimating-time-remaining loop. I am on a 2017 iMac 18,3 running macOS Ventura 13.6.9 . Any assistance or suggestions would be helpful. Error when trying to enable FileVault on MacAir running Ventura Hi All I have a strange issue which I have never seen before in all my Mac years. I have a MacBook Air running Ventura and I need to enable FileVault. However when I go and do it via sys prefs it does not like my admin deets even though I can use them elsewhere to unlock. (The account I am logged into is a standard account) so I logged out and logged in as the admin tried the same thing, whilst it unlocked the sys prefs I hit the encrypt button and it does nothing. So I thought I'd run the sudo command to enable encryption via the Terminal. That looked like it was going to work but then errored and get this message in Terminal So far I have booted off the recovery partition and run a disk first aid to see if it was a permissions issue. That did not make any difference. I am trying to avoid and flat and rebuild. Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions please?

My MacBook says "the current disk is being encrypted" while updating macOS Whenever i tried to download the new updated for MacOS, I'm unable to do so because I'm unable to select the disk. It states the current disk is being encrypted and idk what to do. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

How long & how much is onthe Drive?

Can you get to the Terminal?

Filevault state, open Terminal & paste these in & press enter…

fdesetup status

diskutil cs list | grep 'Conversion Progress'
