How do I input the at sign on a British PC keyboard?

Getting problems with British PC keyboard on MacBook Air for the at sign and other symbols where when I press the keys suggested, they execute different symbols or other functions not required. There are three symbols shown on digits 2 and three, but when the suggested key options I get for the number 2 the trademark symbol in miniature, that are absent from those particular keys.

Can anybody please suggest what the solution is for this?

You need to make sure you have the right input source active. Go to system settings > keyboard > text input > edit and look at the input source list.

If you are talking about an external British windows keyboard, the right input source is "British PC". Remove anything else.

If you are talking about the Apple British internal keyboard, the right input source Is "British" . Remove British PC and anything else.
