How do I fix my iPhone not updating automatically

I have had iPhones for over 10 years now and NEVER EVER have ANY of them done automatic updates even though I have all the devices set to automatically update and install. The phones are always set to update and install overnight, are plugged in, locked, hooked up to a good wi-fi, but yet do nothing! I always, always, always have to manually do updates and installs. Why is this happening?

There are a few places you could look & see what might be missing

ahead of some odd happenstance. Or just to peek in and see where

your iPhone(s) might be depending how the situation works out..

Several updates for Apple's OS are considered security releases.

For those further back, if still supporting recent version updates

might be good to study Support pages to see what was missed.

Sometimes these that get missed, will be included automatically.

Even though you may not have been getting automatic updates.

.That's another bunch of stuff to consider. Or maybe not.!🙂

Agreed. Perhaps you know Apple tends to release updates around 10:00AM Pacific Time on the days updates occur. I will post here the next time Apple releases as iOS update (or Rapid Security Response - see this article - which I believe should also be automatically updated) beyond the current iOS 17.2.1 release.
