Time Machine couldn't back up to "My Passport for Mack"

I bought a new My Passport for Mack, can I just unplug the one not working and plug in the new one?

Yes. If you are not prompted to use the new My Passport, then you may need to open the Time Machine Preferences > click Select Disk... and add the new My Passport to Time Machine.
