Need SymbolMT, Bold Font for PDFS

Wells Fargo's pdf statement download contains the SymbolMT, Bold and it's not installed in fonts and I am unable to find it online. Has anyone had this problem or found out where to get it, as its annoying as heck.

Thank you in advance.

Then it appears they aren't embedding the font in their PDFs.

Unfortunately, it's not a free font. It's owned by MonoType (that's the MT part of the name). And it's not cheap.

I would contact Wells Fargo and tell them to create their PDFs correctly. The user shouldn't have to go digging after fonts almost no one has on their system.

Chris, You were seeing this issue in 12/2023 and I didn't start seeing it until 03/2024.

Could anyone having this issue please one a case with Wells Fargo.

This looks to be a back end issue with Wells Fargo.

Since there's a difference with the dates I would suspect that Wells Fargo didn't change the font set.

My guess would be that they have VMs that have different instruction sets as far as what fonts to use.

But they have not been helpful...

Wells Fargo call #1

Wells Fargo eMail Reply:

"We confirm that your operating system on your computer is not recommended as a supported browser."

They then went on to provide a list of supported browsers.

Wells Fargo call #2

I made it clear that I was downloading the statements and opening them in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

I made the Acrobat error clear:

“Cannot find or create the font ‘SymbolMT,Bold’. Some characters may not display or print correctly.”

What I'm seeing:

Wells Fargo Everyday Checking Statement February 2024 and before use these fonts:

Helvetica

Helvetica-Bold

Helvetica-Bold Oblique

Helvetica-Oblique

T1 - I’m not sure about this font. It could be a custom font for Wells Fargo.

Times-Roman (Embedded Subset)

ZapfDingbats

Wells Fargo Everyday Checking Statement 03/24, 04/24 & 05/24 use these fonts:

Helvetica

Helvetica-Bold

MyriadPro-Black

MyriadPro-Bold

MyriadPro-BoldIt

MyriadPro-It

MyriadPro-Regular

SymbolMT,Bold - This font is the problem.

Then without even the slightest bit of doubt, Wells Fargo is being run by idiots. It doesn't matter what OS, or browser a person is using. Neither can have any effect on a downloaded PDF.

They aren't embedding SymbolMT Bold. Only they can fix it.

Though just to throw this out, there may not actually be a problem. If you can see all text you expect in the PDF, then the problem would be something like there's one space character in the entire PDF that was placed with SymbolMT. You don't need to see it, but Acrobat flags it since the PDF calls for the use of a font that's missing.

For sure something is being swapped out. ZapfDingbats doesn't even have a division symbol in it.

Try copying just the division symbol and pasting it into TextEdit. Highlight the pasted symbol if necessary. If TextEdit tells you it's Helvetica, then it's defaulting to that font because the font it's supposed to be is missing. Otherwise, it will have the correct name as the current active font.
