Formatting a date Excel for Mac

Why won't Excel for Mac just enter the date like I want it. I have tried the custom date dd-mm-yy. nope, I have tried the generic formulas, nope. Excel insists on 2024-01-21.

Numbers not displaying date properly Hi, I've just got a new iMac. My old one was from about 2014 and I was using OpenOffice to do my spreadsheets. When I open my spreadsheets on my new iMac on Numbers the dates are displayed as "DD Nov YY". When I click the cell I can see the date as it was originally entered, but for some reason in the cell on the spreadsheet they are all listed like that. Is there someone who can help me reformat this so it will display the date without me having to click on each cell to see the date?? Thanks!

Changing cell styles in Numbers on Mac I’m having a problem changing a cell style in Numbers on a Mac. The style is automatic or can be changed to text. It is of the format 3/3/25 I expected to be able to change this is a Date format from what must be pure text. I know you should be able to do this in the format cell menu but when you do this it just reverts to Automatic. The weird thing is that some cells are okay but most are just text and won’t change. The source of the file was an XLSX (Excel). However also checked and I have this issue if I read in the equivalent CSV file. Interestingly using a completely different CSV file (that came from a different source) it works just fine so it must be something specific about the data in the cells but as they are text I can’t figure out what the issue is. I was just trying to move from Excel to numbers but I’m stuck on this issue. I need to be able to compare a set of dates to check currency rates on a particular date and of course that won’t work if you compare dates with text. Hope you can help me out.
