I want to use a hardwire connection between the magic keyboard that came with my 2 port iMac, is this possible? I do not want to use the wireless connection via Bluetooth. I have tried connecting the cable from the iMac and the Magic Keyboard, but the iMac does not see the keyboard. Do I need to use a different keyboard?

You probably need to plug it in *after* you turn off bluetooth.
Actually no link needed. I tested it out by connecting the keyboard directly to the thunderbolt port at the back of the iMac and then turned off bluetooth reception at the iMac. I could not get any interaction with the keyboard (keyboard was turned on). I plugged in my hardwired keyboard that came with my old iMac and it worked well.
In order to not use up all your ports you are the perfect candidate for a Thunderbolt dock. I would strongly recommend looking into this option at www.macsales.com, they have a variety of models that can help you out.

The Magic Keyboard that comes with the 2 port M1 iMac does not have a port for a wired connection; it operates solely via Bluetooth. Thanks for replying. I used the cable that came with the iMac and had the switch on. I was not sure if it was still connected to bluetooth, so I turned off the bluetooth feature at the iMac, and I could not enter anything at the keyboard. I did a soft boot and a hard boot, but could not enter anything. Is there something else that needs to be done to have the iMac recognize the keyboard when it is connected to the thunder bolt port?

I also forgot to mention that I want to use a hardwire connection, because of security concerns, someone tapping into the Bluetooth connection.
Link to back that up? I don’t think you’re correct - all Apple keyboards have a lightning port for recharging + typing.
