Sony Headphones will pair with M2 Macbook and OS Ventura 13.6 but no sound

You should have the companion Sony Headphones Connect app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. That will ensure that your Sony headphones have the most current firmware, and other settings that you cannot perform from the macOS side.
I have an M2 Mac mini Pro and both my Sony WF/WH-1000XM4 headphones/earbuds pair with correct sound output, but only after they multi-home with both paired devices (Mac and iPhone 15 Pro Max). Multi-home requires the Sony app to configure that feature.
