Macbook update

i have reset my computer (MacBook retina 12 from 2016) and erased everything and am now trying to reinstall the software but are getting the error message saying “an error occurred while preparing the installation”. Apple support says that I have an ancient computer so the regular solutions don’t work. Does anyone know how to solve this?
