Find backup while iPhone is in recovery mode

NOTE: I selected the wrong device for this post, it's an iPhone XS, not an iPhone 5s

After failing to install a new IOS update using mac finder, my iPhone refuses to boot into IOS and keeps going to recovery mode; I've tried updating and i've come to the unfortunate conclusion that i'm going to have to erase the whole iPhone.

Before the update i noticed that the mac was creating a backup; I don't know if this backup ever finished, and that's why I'm trying to figure out how to confirm this.

Is there any way to check if the iPhone has a backup while it is in recovery mode? the only 2 buttons I can currently press are update and restore.
