I have some additional important points to consider. As long as your HD is too full, you will not be able to update or upgrade the computer's operating system. If the HD gets too full your Mac will stop functioning and that is a serious problem. Here is what you need to do. Purchase an external disk. Reformat it as needed using Disk Utilities. Copy sufficient files onto it as needed. Then delete those files from your HD to create the space you need. These days external disks are very cot effective and easily installed with vendor provided USB cables. Easily done and problem solved.

Your tag line says that you have a 13" MacBook Air running Yosemite (OS X 10.10).

Since you are running Yosemite now, that seems to indicate that your MacBook Air can't be recent enough to run Ventura or Sonoma. The Mac App Store likes to hide all but the most recent version of macOS, but there may be upgrades available for your machine.

What does About This Mac (in the Apple () menu) say about your model name and hardware year?

  • 13" Late 2008 and Mid 2009 MacBook Airs can run El Capitan – but nothing later
  • 13" Late 2010 and Mid 2011 MacBook Airs can run High Sierra – but nothing later.
  • 13" Mid 2012 MacBook Airs can run Catalina – but nothing later
  • 13" Mid 2013 and Early 2014 MacBook Airs can run Big Sur – but nothing later
  • 13" Early 2015 MacBook Airs can run Monterey – but nothing later
