Itunes won't sync music with my ipod nano anymore. Apple says they obsoleted the device. Don't want to buy an iPhone or iPad. Need a device that will play thru the USB cable so I can play it in my car. Any suggestions?

If you have an Android phone, add your music to that instead.
Note that iTunes can't manage an Android phone, but there is software that can. Most modern Android phones can play Apple's m4a (AAC) files.
Also, if your iPod nano is still working, the iTunes should still be able to add music to it, so perhaps there is something wrong (such as a setting) that can be sorted out here. What happens when you try to add music to the nano?

If that doesn't help (enough), try this tip from fellow user turingtest2: iOS device not showing in iTunes for Wind… - Apple Community. If memory serves me well, turingtest2 has stated that even though his article mentions iOS, it is relevant for a nano.
Thank you. I've been through all of these steps, multiple times including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. So far, nothing helps. The iTunes Device connectivity test tells me "iPod support service is not installed." I can find no solution for this and since Apple tells me they no longer support the iPod they are of no help. Any other ideas appreciated.
The iPod is still working (I can play music in the car.) but iTunes (running on Win 11 Home) no longer recognizes the device. It seems some driver is missing. Any help would be appreciated.
Need a replacement mp3 player for my ipod.
