iPad Otterbox

I bought an iPad 9th generation and installed the Zagg screen protector and subsequently bought an Otterbox Defender (which also has a screen protector). It would appear as I now have too much screen protection as I have to tap on the screen more than I would like. Should I remove the Zagg protector or continue to tap aggressively? Thanks.
