Screensize of iPhone 11 and 15 are NOT the same

Apple advertises with a 6,1" screen for both iPhone 11 and 15. The 15 definitely has more pixels (2556 x 1179 versus 1792 x 828 for the 11). But if you search deeper you'll find:

iPhone 11 has 414 × 896 points.

iPhone 15 has 393 x 852 points.

These "points" are independent of the amount of pixels.

You can see here the screen is really smaller:

11:

15:

Just so you know.. I might return the 15 and go for a plus..

Sorry, just sharing my findings for other people to make informed choices, as Apple is not really shouting this from the roofs. Next time I'll frame it as a question if that serves this forum better..

And exactly that is why I posted this message: that's indeed true and OK for a TV, but not for a phone:

Retina screens use either 2x zoom (compared to 1:1 of pixels) or 3x. Nothing in between.

Physical screen size is perhaps the same, but apps are zoomed in (about 5%). So: sentences break earlier, ellipsis appear sooner (see my screenshots) and all that jive.. anyway.. this is actually becoming a discussion, so it's the right forum after all 😆

No need to apologize. I'm here every day and can't recall anyone making much of screen size differences. One would seemingly be able to recognize iPhone 15 vs iPhone 11, one has higher resolution and it would be the 15 and iPhone Pro Max has the larger screen. More importantly, iPhone 11 was discontinued in 2022, so I'm not sure what difference it makes to make a distinction between a currently sold model iPhone and one which has been discontinued going to two years now? It's not like you can walk into an Apple Store and buy an iPhone 11 anymore.

There's nothing unusual about that. Not even a little. Screen sizes are always measured by dimension, not pixel density.

Such as, it doesn't matter if you're talking about a 42" 720HD TV, a 42" 1080HD TV, or a 42" 4K UHD TV. They all have a screen with a diagonal measurement of 42", and that's the size they're all considered to be.

Again, WHY? You are expressing comparison between a current model iPhone against an iPhone no longer sold. It doesn't make a difference since no one can walk into an Apple Store and buy an iPhone 11. I fail to see the relevance at all?
