iPhone 8 with iOS 11.2.2 wont update, iTunes offers updating it to iOS 16.7.4.

iPhone 8 with iOS 11.2.2 wont update, iTunes offers updating it to iOS 16.7.4. But every time shows error: "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The requested source was not found", same errors appears when choosing just to download iOS 16 version, without updating the phone itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 11, all updates, firewall exclusion for iTunes etc. Updating of iph 11 from iOs 16.x.x. to 17.x.x worked just fine. iPhone 8 doesn't offer updating wirelessly.

So iTunes 12.13.1.3 then? Installed from the Microsoft Store or with a direct download from apple.com? The two versions are subtly different, switching from one to the other might help.

Reboot your router and computer. Turn off any VPN software. Empty your browser's cache. Try again.

What version of iTunes is installed? Would an over the air update work or are you opposed? Do you have multiple backups, i.e. both Windows and iCloud? iOS 11 to iOS 16 is a big jump and I can imagine potential issues with apps that no longer work, or data that doesn't migrate correctly. And you'll want a backup you could restore if it goes sideways.
