Hello I just got an iPad mini 6 and the charger in the box I believe is usb type c does not fit the iPad for some reason. I bought another type c charger for the iPad mini 6 off Amazon and it does not fit either. Is there some type of advanced cable I need that fits into the mini 6 or what am I missing here?

If it is new and covered by warranty, I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

Seeing your first image, it looks like you're using a case/cover on your iPad. Have you tried to remove it and tested if the cable can fit in that USB-C port?
To be honest, this doesn’t look like a USB-C connector. This looks like a lightning connector. Are you sure this is a iPad Mini 6th Gen? Did you buy it new? I could be wrong as the photo is a little blurry, but I don’t see the usual USB-C connector in the middle like you usually see in the connector port.

Your best bet, as already suggested in my first reply, is to have your iPad+charger+cable(s) inspected.
Since I haven't heard about that issue recently, please keep me informed after the inspection.
