My Apple Watch isn’t downloading the most recent updates that are available. It’s the version 8.8.1(19U512) model A2293. Every time I try to install the update I end up getting an error with no specific details.

It is probably a good idea to reset the Apple Watch and then pair it back again to the iPhone. Once that is done then you can attempt to update the Apple Watch. If you choose to do this, then backup your iPhone (this will also backup your Apple Watch data) prior to resetting the Apple Watch.
