FCPX library can't be backed up?

FCPX library can't be backed up?

I'm trying to back up a Library to another drive. It doesn't matter which other drive I get a pop-up each time telling me I can't copy the file over. See attached. I can back it up if I stay on the same drive.

Never seen this before. Perhaps the original Library file is somehow corrupted, though I'm working in that Library and it seems to be fine.

Any suggestions? I'm wondering how tricky it would be to create a NEW Library, and then move all the projects etc. from the seemingly 'corrupted' library over to the NEW Library in the hope of getting rid of the corruption, if that's what it is.

Or maybe it's something else?

Is there another library with the same name on the destination drive? How is it connected and formatted? Check read/write permissions for the drive is set to everyone.

Are you using backup software like Time Machine, Carbon Copy Cloner, ChronoSync? These use software that gets around these problems using multiple copies and discarding older versions.

One thing you can do is zip the library and then copy it.

Both drives busy working drives full of stuff. No chance to reformat anything. I'm trying the ZIP as we speak.

Brilliant. The .zip worked seamlessly ... mmm ... and copied it over super fast, faster than it was taking when copying it straight over. Interesting.

Don't think there is another Library with same name -- the first thing I did was change the name of the Library I wanted to move. I'll do a search, but don't think that's it: actually, coz I tried to copy to several different drives, all showing the same pop-up.

This was a drag and drop. I'll try CCC. I use it all the time for copying drives, or large collections. Ha. I'll try it with one file, this will be interesting.

I tried CC. This is what it said. I include a screenshot of the actual drive the Library is coming from. Must run out for a bit, will check for your comment the moment I get back.
