Can't find preferences under Safari on Sonoma

MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.2.1, safari is blocking pop up windows and I cannot fine preferences under safari when I open the app.

Thank you for your answer but after I open Safari and look at the drop down menu I don’t see Settings or any of the other things you listed. Should I be opening Safari to find the things you list or is it somewhere. Thanks for any help

I’m kind of new to Apple. This may sound silly, but when you instructed to go to Safari and select settings, I actually opened the Safari browser and looked for settings, which of course is nowhere to be found in Safari. Finally, it dawn on me to go to the Settings icon on the main screen and scroll down to Safari. Sure enough, there was the option to remove extensions. Please save us newbys some grief and walk us through each of the steps in a process. Thanks!
