Can we have military discount applied to our recent order ?

We were at the Apple Store to purchase an Apple Watch for my wife. At the time of making the purchase I asked if we could have a military discount applied to the purchase and were told that I can only do that if purchased on line. As we had driven over 70miles to make this purchased I did not want to travel all that way and not make a purchase. I am not sure of the logic that items purchased at an Apple Store can not have the military discount applied, I can easily provide the IDme verification to the store assistant. In this case we made the purchase and when I got home I went through order process on-line to see what the discount would be and was surprised that I could of saved over $100.00 with the discount. So today we drove over 2hrs to get an Apple Watch and spent 100.00 dollars more than we needed. Would like to so see if there is something we can do to help ?

Per Apple’s fine print info this isn’t an option. The discount can only happen when purchasing through the special Military and Veterans storefront. So you will either need to drive back and return what you purchased and then place an order online to get the discount or take the loss. It won’t really be beneficial for you to make another round trip drive if you consider gas and time lost versus the $100 discount but that’s a personal judgment call.

From the Apple footnote:

Apple Card Monthly Installments (ACMI) are not available as a payment type in this special storefront. Please visit an Apple Store location or the Apple Online Store if you wish to use ACMI at checkout. Please note that purchases made at an Apple Store location or through the Apple Online Store are not eligible for the discounted pricing available at this special storefront.

FYI it’s not odd for some retailers that offer special discounting to only allow those purchases to be made through a dedicated website versus in store.

Hi and Thank you for your response and explanation. I think of the Apple stores as the local face to the large international company and was hoping for some other resolution than a “Sorry, your out of luck” response as I have also experienced the military discount requirements at other large companies but in those cases there was a manager or supervisor that was able to apply the discount so that the customer did not have to waist time or money. From this experience, I can see why we are moving away from having local stores which is sad as this is our local citizen’s job supporting our neighbors and community.
