The listing for MagSafe Charger includes iPhone SE (2nd generation / aka 2020) as compatible (except for the "magnetic alignment experience"). The list goes back to the iPhone 8.
Under the iPhone User Guide "Models compatible with MagSafe accessories and chargers" that same SE model is not included. The list begins with iPhone 12.

So, which is it?
The former description applies and that is:
The MagSafe Charger makes wireless charging a snap. The perfectly aligned magnets attach to your iPhone 12 or later to provide faster wireless charging up to 15W.
The MagSafe Charger maintains compatibility with Qi charging, so it can be used to wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 or later, as well as AirPods models with a wireless charging case, as you would with any Qi-certified charger.
The magnetic alignment experience only applies to iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15.
In other words, you can simply place your iPhone 8 on top of the MagSafe Charger, on a flat surface, and it will charge your iPhone 8 like any other wireless Qi charger.
