More generally: Settings > General > Software Update

iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone SE 2nd gen, or later iPhone models, can get to iOS 17. Currently, that’s 17.5.1.

iPhone 8 and iPhone X and earlier cannot.

Which iPhone? And if you are encountering an issue or error with the update, what is it?

But most folks aren’t running a custom DNS configuration, whether local DNS servers or otherwise.

Not past a typical DNS relay, or Pi-hole blocking, or such.

Out of curiosity, what’s special or different about your DNS setup that is derailing Apple updates and requires removing or reworking the DNS relay or resolver configuration?

Is your date and time set correctly?

I’m not sure what error you’re encountering here, and this doesn’t seem related to the update verification error in the rest of this thread.

Updates over cellular require an iPhone with 5G, a 5G cellular plan, and a 5G cellular connection.

Without a 5G connection, Wi-Fi or a computer is required for updates.

If you somehow cannot connect to Wi-Fi to update, then you will need to use a computer.

Been struggling with this for over a day and tried every suggested fix. Nothing worked except connecting to my pc after installating ITunes and updating via iTunes. No issues there…

I’ve been using iOS 17 for a while now and have been trying to update to iOS 17.4.1 But, when I try to install it says “unable to verify update”! I’ve tried to hard reset, uninstall, etc (expect reset network settings), but it won’t work. I don’t have a Mac/iTunes right now & a USB cord.

I heard you need to have the latest update to get iOS 17.4.1 I can’t update to iOS 17 because it wont show up on software updates.

Oh respectfully that is ridiculous everything is in order but still need an extra 10 gigs of space for what? Silly question honestly but I’m sure clearing up 10ish of space won’t solve the issue… none of the other troubleshoot works so I’m just at a lost

I faced the same issue when I tried to update from 17.5.1 to 17.6.1. I tried everything - deleting download and redownload, hard restart, resetting network settings, deleting vpn softwares, installing via mac device. Spent many days to figure it out. Nothing worked. I had to use another temporary phone for my company email app because they mandated an update. Finally ios18 came by and I was able to update to ios18.

Apple has free classes that might help better understand using the latest versions of Apple apps including Photos, if you are near an Apple Store: Today at Apple - Apple

Apple are you doing anything about this? Can this be an issue on your server or some other intermediary? Its not a cosmetic issue of not being able to go to 17.7. You have stopped the phone activating the 5G signal. Its become a worthless piece of brick.

I have 25G of space, no VPN and plenty of power so the obvious suggestions will not work.

What is wrong please
