If you can not get the phone to connect to the iMac via USB and use File Transfer? Put an SD card into the Phone and transfer the photos to the SD card. Then remove the SD card from the Phone, put the SD card into your iMac's SD card slot or a USB card reader and import the photos into the iMac's Photos App.

Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader — Apple - Apple

As den.thed already told you, "The Apple Lighting to SD Card Reader is for iPhones and iPads, it will not plug into your new iMac."

Lightning is used on some iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, mice, and keyboards. It is not the same thing as USB, USB-C, USB4, or Thunderbolt 3/4, and a Lightning plug will not fit any of the ports on your 24" Apple Silicon iMac.

Except perhaps for the charging/pairing ports on the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse. The Lightning ports on some Magic Keyboards and Magic Mice are just for charging/pairing, not for plugging in other accessories.

Just about any USB card reader should do. There are many ways to connect a device with a USB-A plug to your iMac, including, but not limited to, USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple , USB-C hubs, and Thunderbolt docks. Thus, while it is useful if a new card reader comes with a USB-C plug, it isn't strictly necessary.

The USB-C to SD Card Reader - Apple that den.thed mentioned has a USB-C plug, and is one of the readers that would work with your iMac.

The SGH-T959V is a Galaxy S 4G.

open > https://www.t-mobile.com/support/public-files/images/samsung/galaxy-s-4g/manual/Galaxy_S_4G_manual.pdf and go to PC Connections starting on page 168.

If you can't establish an USB connection by switching the Phone to Mass Storage and then using Android File Transfer or MacDroid. Then you may be stuck using a SD memory card which is explained on page 50 and page 168.
