Battery: MacBook Pro 2019 with Retina Display

Before I went to sleep, I didn't plug in my MBP overnight to charge and the next day I opened my MBP just to see a black screen with a charger pointing to a battery (Indicating that I needed to charge my Mac). But the thing was that I didn't use up my 2019 MacBook pro's battery remembering that I left it on 50% charge. After charging for a few seconds, it shows that I am down at 45% and everything else was working perfectly fine. All the problems regarding battery life started after updating to MacOS Sonoma. What may have caused my MBP to indicate that I have no battery even though it does when I didn't install a update?

These Apple USB-C Intel laptops are very quirky especially regarding power & battery. The 2018-2020 models with the T2 security chip are the worst of the bunch. The behavior you describe does not surprise me at all since I've seen it multiple times while supporting my organization's Macs. Since I have seen it occur immediately after an official Apple battery repair with a fresh battery, I suspect it is a Logic Board issue where the battery appears to become disconnected so prompting the need to charge the laptop. I just ignore it since there is nothing to do since it is not worth the money to repair due to how expensive the repairs are for these USB-C Macs.

Double check the battery condition to see if it says "Service Recommended" which would indicate the battery is either wearing out or possibly indicates a hardware issue with the battery.

You can try an SMC Reset, but I doubt it will help.

You can also try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected, however, the diagnostics rarely detect problems.
