Will Best Buy or Apple replace an iphone battery that has 80% or more capacity?

Will Best Buy or Apple replace an iphone battery that has 80% or more capacity? I read something on Best Buy site that says no : ( I don't believe it. I am giving a used Iphone to someone and I don't want to give it to them with a bad battery. It has 80% but of course, within a short time will have 79%. I also have another iphone with 83% I want to replace.

iPhone Repair & Service - Apple Support

Battery service

We can replace your iPhone battery for a fee. Our warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use.

Your product is eligible for a battery replacement at no additional cost if you have AppleCare+ and your product's battery holds less than 80 percent of its original capacity.

above is where you can schedule an appointment with Apple or Authorized Repair providers.

As noted: AppleCare plus or warranty only covers battery replacement if within the coverage period your battery is at 80% or less.

I don’t have any idea what the policy is for you wanting to pay for a new battery outside of that.

Best bet is contact Best Buy and ask.

I guess I will explain why I want to do this. I am giving this Iphone to someone in another country. If they have to replace the battery there the tech will undoubtedly replace the battery with a cheap inferior battery. It's just the way it is there. So I want to replace it in US where I will be more sure to get a better quality battery.

Thank you for the reply. Yes. I think the confusion might be coming from the warranty thing. I am not asking if they will replace the battery under warranty or Apple Care. These iphones are older and out of warranty period. I don't have Apple Care on either of these iphones that I want battery replacement done. I am willing to pay the exorbitant cost for replacement. We use iphones for years without problems. Great product in my experience. But I don't buy $1000 phones for my adolescent children. They get by with older ones that work great. All they want is Apple and big screen 🙄

Well I have info from Apple chat now that says that is not correct. Ajun days yes, Apple will replace a battery that has 80% health. I will just leave it at that. Maybe an Apple rep will post a reply here 🙄

I don’t get why you’re saying I’m incorrect when I literally also said 80% capacity or less?

The only other thing I added said “or diagnostic showing failed/degraded.” Which means if a battery shows say 90% capacity but Apple runs diagnostics and it fails their diagnostics they would do a battery replacement without it having reached 80% yet.

Sorry about the confusion. I want to replace batteries that have 80% and more capacity. For example, as I say, one has 83%. You seemed to say they will only replace if 80% or less. (Or degraded) Which I think is true under warranty or Apple Care. But as I also explained I don't want to do it under either. I just want to do it at my expense at 83% or more so that I don't give someone a good phone with a nearly weak battery. Iphones start acting up in the 70's % range. In my experience. Going to different country, cheap knock off batteries, etc.
