If you attach a monitor to your Mac laptop, and put the monitor into extended desktop mode, you can have different things on the monitor than on the Mac's built-in screen.
Most browsers let you create multiple windows, so you could create two browser windows, and drag one or more of them to the monitor (and resize them for it).
You will want to use Displays {Preferences/Settings} to tell the Mac roughly where the monitor is physically located, relative to your laptop's screen. When the screens are in extended desktop mode, the system will let you move the mouse cursor between them along the edges that it thinks correspond to the physical screen arrangement. E.g., if you tell the computer that the monitor is to the left of the laptop screen, you'd drag the mouse off of the left edge of the laptop screen, or the right edge of the monitor screen, to move the mouse pointer between screens.
The monitor arrangement controls might not appear until you have the external monitor connected and working.
