Journal app - how to share or print

Is the Journal app so new that I cannot share or print from it?

Is there a projected timeline for features that will be added, such as integration with iMessage or phone calls?

I would also LOVE to be able to print from the new Journal App feature. I really only started using it thinking that I could print into a book. I’ve been using it to document my baby’s moments that I would like to share via printed form

No one here in this user-to-user forum would know apple's plans for the future. You can let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

Meanwhile, there are lots of much more mature journaling apps that will do exactly what you want. I suggest DayOne. It will allow you to order printed books of your journal entries.

I had an amazing day that I thought I would write up in the Journal app. So disappointed that I can’t print, share or print all the stuff I wrote. This needs fixing asap.

I too would like to be able to easily copy and paste ALL journal entries I only started using it in order to track daily data concerning blood pressure and pulse ox readings for my doctor if anyone has an answer I would appreciate any feedback thanks in advance !!!

That's not currently an option. You would be better off using another app. I'd suggest storing the information in the Health app. You can share directly from the Health app or you can use an app like Heart Reports to generate some nicely formatted pdfs of both of those metrics. Heart Reports pulls directly from Heatlh. It was very convenient when my doctor wanted information on my resting heart rate.

a few questions- do we still own the rights to our data in our journals to do what we like?

Yes, you own the rights to the data. But that doesn't require that Apple provide you with the ability to share the data. But you do have the ability to print entries.

It’s simple enough to implement share anywhere via main platforms like photo already does. So why not do that from the off

No one here in this user-to-user forum would know the answer to that.

Please make it make sense that you allow printing but you do not allow me to share my voice recording that I have made to myself to be share.

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

everything implemented in journal seems to be past technology- everything is done a lightning speed. Its a shame we are forced back to pre historic dial-up ways of working

So use one of the many, much better, third-party journal apps.

I had posted my opinion of The Journal on April 11th. I was just experimenting with trying to find a way to print my daily journal entries from my "6 week trip of a lifetime". If you go to a daily entry, click on the 3 dots at the bottom right, hit edit, then press on your entry. It will highlight a word then it will say "Cut, Copy, Paste", which you can drag the purple shadow over the entire text...then hit copy. Then, paste it into a word document. I had to do this 42 times for 42 days in chronological order in my Word Doc!!!! But, it worked. Better yet and I can't explain why, every once in a while, I would touch the screen and instead of just "Cut, Copy, Paste", miraculously the word "SELECT ALL" would appear. This made copying so much easier. It's time consuming but I was able to print out my entire journal. Yippee!

They must include the ‘shared journal feature’ like ‘shared album’ feature in Photos app. So we can share the journals to our family. Also they must allow us to create multiple journals.

Apple doesn't have to do anything they don't want to do. They can add features, remove features or discontineu the app if they chose to.

I don’t know Apple has any plan to update the app in the near future.

Nor does anyone else here in this user-to-user forum. You can let the know what you'd like to see here:

Otherwise we will forced to use other journaling apps. But I really don’t want to spend money on everything I use.

Are you suggesting that you shouldn't have to pay for software that people work hard to create? Apple provides basic apps for free but, as has always been the case, if you want specific features that Apple doesn't provide, you may need to pay.

Lots of journal apps have free tiers. Have you checked out any of them? Have you considered using Notes? It's free.

I am also very frustrated. I have been promoting this app to many people since start using it. Now, how can I guarantee all the effort i had will be kept for the future? At least they should give us a timeframe for solving the problem. Or it is their strategy to keep us imprisoned in iphone?

No one here knows the reasons behind what Apple does or does not do. Or when they will make changes. You can let them know your thoughts here:

Meanwhile, take a look at some of the hundreds of other journaling apps available in the App Store. Or just use Notes.

I usually check the features before i start using it. But thinking its a apple app i used it and to my disgust i find i cant search, print, export journal entries. These features should be there in the MVP for the product. PLEASE TAKE THIS REQUEST AT THE EARLIEST.

Maybe you should tell Apple:

I went of a 6 week trip of a lifetime and was religious about posting my activities everyday. I "ASSUMED" that I would be able to print it once I returned home. I guess I was wrong. So disappointing. I should never had kept my special memories on the Apple Journal App. :(

Please Apple...add this feature to your Journal app. I just filled out and shared the information with Apple at:

Please everyone, do the same.
