Audio recorder on my iPhone Messages app turns itself on

Audio message was on and I had no idea!!! I am absolutely outraged! This cost me my job! I put my phone in my pocket and the audio message turned on. I was having a personal/ private conversation with a co-worker.. the whole time it was recording my conversation… then actually sent the conversation to the person. I didn’t even see the audio as it deleted itself from my text messages but not before actually sending it to the person.. the only reason I was aware was when I received an irate text message back stating what was said in the conversation I thought was private.. this was brought to my bosses attention and the result was that I and the other person I was speaking to were fired. Tell me how Apple plans on fixing that?

As I said before, it’s ridiculous: I really wonder if Apple have hundreds of software developers who have nothing better to do than spend thousands of hours trying to think of ‘clever’ things to do (like this one) that no one wants or if anything, people find positively annoying - or in your case, worse!

I apologize to Singardia and others who have tried so diligently to find the way to fix this, but I swear… my phone does not have " raise to listen" anywhere, Even though search pretends that it does. It simply is not there! Again, this is iPhone 12 with version 18.2.1

I have raise to listen toggled off and that stupid red audio button is still on one of my group text. It will not go away. It is only on one of my groups. Does not show on any of my other messages. I have toggled it on and off, Deleted the message stream and Turned the phone on and off but it is still there. This is soooo ridiculous. How do I get rid of it. It is a feature I would never use. Why would I want to record my message when I can hit the mic and speak it anyways.

Mine too. FIX THIS! It could have very bad unintended results if such an audio message is accidentally sent.

Having the same issue - recording automatically turns on when I hit the back arrow to leave that message.

Same problem! After I send my text and begin to put my phone back in my pocket, I hear that **** sound that tells me that text is recording. It happens almost after every text.

It’s been months and months of this with multiple iOS releases, how long does it take to get a pretty severe messaging and audio bug patched?

Thank you for the info. That was one of the most annoying things Apple has done lately to "fix" something which wasn't broken!

Audio Messages nor Raise To Listen are even options in settings anymore. I can’t figure out how to turn this off!

My hero!! Thank you!! I’ve been so scared that I was going to say something, have it accidentally sent and have it create some huge issue with somebody! 😆

This problem cannot be fixed by going to settings-messages-raise to listen because raise to listen is not in settings anywhere. Apple fix this issue!
