Apple Music on Apple TV Not Opening

I have an Apple TV 4th gen that is updated to 17.2 iOS and my Apple Music app stopped opening approximately around December 20, 2023. It is working on my iPad (once I updated), my iPhone, and my MacBook Air. Unplugging and resetting the router does not resolve the issue and the app cannot be deleted. I have a case open with Apple since December 28, 2023 which was elevated twice. This is January 3, 2024 and I have heard nothing back so I am asking the larger community for help. Signing out alone did not fix the issue; however, signing out and then powering off the TV, disconnecting the Apple TV box to reset and then powering up, signing in to the store again solved the problem. Thank you for the how to and other tips to clear the problem and reset the library.

Thank you for the reply, Urquhart1244. Allow me to respond:


  1. The app is not frozen so force quitting is unnecessary. Pressing the menu button on my apple remote closes the app normally. When “open” the blank screen is what appears.
  2. Funny enough, I did close the app, power off, reboot router etc. many times without solving the issue.
  3. What store account do you mean? Can you sign out of the Apple Music app on the TV? I could sign out on any of my other devices that I listed but why when the app is working fine on all of them? How would that affect the Apple TV app?
  4. Please refer back to my post. I do have a case open with Apple Support.
