iPod coming apart at the seams

My iPod is bursting at the seams. It has not sustained any damage. It sits in a little charging cradle. From other reading I suspect the battery might be the culprit. Any remedy available ?

The only remedy is to replace the battery. And, even then, if the damage is too great, it may not be fixable.

Depending on how old an iPod it is, Apple may still be able to provide service (at a fee). It looks as if the iPod 6 and iPod 7 are not yet considered obsolete.
