iTunes, High Sierra > Apple music, Monterey .itl > .musiclibrary

Hi,

So I recently purchased a new Mac, and the last couple of weeks I've been trying to transfer my old and beloved iTunes library to the new Mac, I've tried various solutions found online and on this community, all to no avail.

My old Mac runs High Sierra, iTunes 12.8.3.1, my new Mac runs Monterey, Apple Music 1.2.5.7.

So I'm wondering if i upgrade to Ventura, will Apple Music on Ventura be able to convert the .itl file to .musiclibrary, or is that a long shot since Apple Music on Monterey just sits around and does nothing but show me a spinning wheel for days when i press option > open Apple Music?

I've read several interesting reply posts by the user turingtest2 to similar questions on the community, and I hope turingtest2 can come to my rescue

I'm not ready to say goodbye to my 15 years of iTunes play counts, dates added and playlists.

Hi,

You've probably seen one or more of my posts where I mention that Monterey has an issue converting .itl libraries. I've successfully converted .itl to .musiclibrary in Ventura in the past, but I recently had a conversation with someone who was seeing the same symptoms when accessing a .itl file in Ventura. As mentioned elsewhere the conversion can be done in Catalina or Big Sur and all of the metadata should be retained. Only the library is required to do the conversion so you can send it to a friend. If you don't know anyone with access to either version then I've done around 80 of these on my old Catalina Mac mini. Email address in my profile here if you'd like my help.
