Workout Apple Watch Siri not working with airPods

This is a follow-up to earlier threads. When Airpods are in if I ask Siri to start a workout it tries to do it on the phone, not the watch. This is apparently an ongoing problem and some people have created shortcuts. II found that if you turn off the Siri listening feature on the iPhone it works fine, but you lose some other functionality.

Apple Watch Siri on AirPods Pro So using my AirPods Pro I was able to say “Hey Siri, start a walking workout” or any sport command to Siri and automatically it would start countdown on Apple Watch. I could say ”hey Siri pause my workout” or “hey Siri, end my workout.” That was a great feature because having layers of clothes and a snow jacket is hard to bring the watch out of winter layers. These features don’t work for me using my AirPods Pro anymore. Anyone else have the same problem?

Using Apple Watch with airpods and Siri whilst out running Hello. I need some advice please. When I go out running, I only take my Apple Watch (Which outside obviously isn’t connected to WiFi) and I also have my airpods in. I am able to listen to the music I have downloaded to the watch and I set this to start at the beginning of my run so I’m not messing with the watch whilst I’m running. However I would now like to know how I get Siri to work whilst I’m on my run if I wish to alter the music to something else that has been downloaded to the watch. I want to able to tell Siri to “play........” but I don’t know how to make this work? Do I tap the airpods whilst I’m running and then speak? Or do I tap the watch and get Siri to work that way? Im confused as I can’t seem to get Siri to work despite reading the support pages and following the instructions. Thank you.

Not working - “Hey Siri, start an Outdoor walking/running/cycling workout” Hello everyone, i used to raise my wrist to ask Siri to start workouts for me on my Apple Watch 7 since watchOS 9 or 9.1 (can’t remember exactly) this is no longer possible as Siri reports a problem. (Feedback example: “Sorry, I am having trouble right now, try again later”) exception: when having AirPods in ears and connected to Bluetooth to the watch and NOT to the iPhone (watch > settings.app > Bluetooth > tap AirPods to make sure they’re connected to the watch) that way I can raise my wrist and ask Siri to start a workout and she will do it. does someone have a solution please? my devices Watch 7 Nike with watchOS 9.3.1 iphone 12 with iOS 16.3.1 thanks in advance!

I am having the same issue for a few months. No update has fixed it for me. Driving me insane. Did you find a solution?
