Why won’t my series 1 Apple Watch turn on?

My series 1 Apple Watch will not turn on but will only flash the Apple logo. If I try to force restart it (holding the crown and the power button) it shows a screen that has a circle with an exclamation point in it and has the link www.apple.com/help/watch . I tried to follow the steps but they did not help.

If this information helps the Watch previously belonged to ny grandmother and she got a new one so she gave this (series 1) to me. It used to only flash the logo so assumed it was a problem with the battery so I got on Amazon and got a replacement kit. I just replaced the battery and the only difference from before is that it previously would not show the link with the exclamation point.
