iRig2 - how to record audio using a standard 1/8" mini-plug cable

I recently purchased the iRig2 to use with my bass guitar, but I'm finding lots of other uses for just the adapter cables that they supply with it. I noticed that the iRig2 hardwired output cable also has three rings like my apple earbud/mic cable. Anything that produces a standard line out signal from a 1/8" port can be connected to my MacBook, iPhone, iPad, or Mac mini - thru the standard 1/4" input that the iRig2 adapter provides. Just a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter allows me to record on any of my devices.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 13.6
