Shall I keep the stolen device attached to my apple id or remove it?

A few days ago, while on my Christmas break in Naples, Italy, my iPhone 14 Pro was stolen. I've erased the device and put it in lost mode, but it's still linked to my Apple account. I'm worried: if I add my credit and debit cards to Apple Pay now, could they also get attached to the lost device? Is there a chance my card numbers might appear on the stolen device?

Thanks

Keep it linked to your account. If you remove it, it will make it available to whoever has it. As long as you used a Passcode and had Find My enabled, they can't access your data. You also may receive a message that your iPhone has been found and a request to enter your credentials. DON'T DO IT. It's a scam engineered to get you to give them the keys to your iPhone.
