how can I watch a DVD on a 13inch MacBook Air M2 (A1281 model)?

I recently purchased a 13" MacBook Air M2, the model is A1821. I tried, using an adapter, to connect my external Apple Superdrive, but to no avail. Apple Assistance told me it's not coimpatible with my newer Mac. Does anyone know what external DVD drive is? Or what solution I must implement to be able to read a DVD on this Mac? Or must I retort to an older machine and read the data over air?

Thanks for any help, and happy new year.

I don't get why some apple assistants incorrectly state that the superdrive is not compatible with M.x Macs. they certainly are compatible. there are many users in this forum using that setup without issue. it could be the adapter that you are using. some third party adapters do not work. some do, but it is a craps shoot as to wether or not they will work with the superdrive.

I would recommend using an apple branded adapter. either an USB-C to USB Adapter, or an USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

The Super Drive is compatible.

The issue may be the disc.

Are you trying to watch an actual DVD or a blu-ray disc by any chance?

What happens when you insert the disc into the drive?

You can use the built in DVD Player app to watch DVDs. Blu-Rays are not supported by the Super Drive. And the Mac requires 3rd party blu-ray player software to be able to play them when inserted in a compatible drive.
